Habitat ► High pastures.

Features ► Stalk up to six inches high. Leaves hairy, three to five inches long by two to three inches broad, bi-pinnate, leaflets opposite, stalked below. Flowers (April and May) large, single, six dull violet petals. Taste pungent when fresh.

Part used ► Herb.

Action ► Nervine, antispasmodic, alterative.

Nervous exhaustion in women, particularly when resulting from menstrual causes. Has a stimulating action on all mucous surfaces. Dose, 1-2 tablespoonfuls of the 1/2 ounce to 1 pint infusion.
