Substances which increase the flow of BILE by stimulating evacuation of the gall-bladder (see LIVER). The great majority of these act only by increasing the activity of the digestive organs, and so producing a flow of bile already stored up in the gall-bladder. Substances which stimulate the liver to secrete more bile are known as CHOLERETIC.
