One of several BETA-ADRENOCEPTORBLOCKING DRUGS used in the treatment of high blood pressure, ANGINA and ARRHYTHMIA. One of its practical advantages is that only one dose a day need be taken. Atenolol, being a beta-blocking drug, may precipitate ASTHMA – an effect that may be dangerous. Among the side-effects are fatigue and disturbed sleep.
